Inter-Ex is the name of a number of events with 22 years of tradition. These gatherings of
lateral thinkers are held under the headline: It flies, which no-one believed!
It is not very important to show high class performances, although these are presented almost each year. Inter-Ex
is pan-european. In the future the events will be held rotational in France, Netherlands and Germany.
I participated in Inter-Ex since 2004. So i'am one of the new addicts. Most participants
know each other for many years and build a strong group of knowledge and common sense, but newbies like me get a
warm welcome. I will not forget the nightly free barbecue at Inter-Ex 05 in France.
A wonderful documentation of the history and idea behind these events is on the official site of Inter-Ex.
Welcome to Inter-Ex. It is impossible to show it all, therefore
i show you just a small selection of pictures.
The Boomerang was my entry for Inter-Ex 2004. It is basically a flat circle wing with ailerons.
The whole construction is built as transparent as possible, except the boomerang, which turns inside the structure.
Motor is a homebuilt Doubleconrad. The Boomerang itself is driven by a micro brushed motor
which acted in his first life as a door-opener in a CD-rom drive. I was inspired to build this by a poem from Joachim
Ringelnatz, which is well known in Germany.
Pegasus was planned as my entry for Inter-Ex 05, but i didn't manage to get the build finished, because
it shows an enormous need for power and i was lacking time to wind a hotter motor.
Pegasus is mainly build from foam-bathing-noodles for children with a rogallo-wing from carbon-rods and kiter-nylon.
Rudders are made of 6mm Depron. I will try to get Pegasus ready for Inter-Ex 06 in the Netherlands.
After Inter-Ex 2007 i was really amazed by Peter Löhnerts experiments with thrust-vector-steering
and as well impressed by the beauty of Gerard Jumelins new Mobil'Air models. It was a only a short step to combine both
ideas, but a longer way to make it a good flyer. Needed some consultations with Peter and Gerard. Now it flies perfect,
if it's calm. Wind is a no-no for this plane, because you need much thrust to keep it against the wind at windy conditions,
but then it climbs strongly.. :-)Phantasie has some major modifications with respect to Gerards outstanding design.
So i decided to use another name, because it is not a Mobil'Air anymore.Visit my slowfly-subpage for more of Gerards work or
my links-subpage to find a link to Peters homepage crazyplanes.de .
The big Rumpelstoss is my model for Inter-Ex 2008 and is just a bigger version of the small Rumpelstoss,
plan here: Slowfly.
The big Rumpelstoss has 226 cm span and weighs 2780 Gramm. Big Rumpelstoss is made from Depron, a little bit of spruce and a few homemade
thermo-vacuum-formed plastic-parts. Motor is a Dualsky Outrunner 4240-10T with 3S 3200 Saehan lipo.
There's a nice german thread with a short, just slightly faked backgroundstory :-)

Gyrocopters fascinated me for a long time. My first try was an own design, constructed by strictly ignoring all the knowledge found on the web. The result was, let me say, sad. :-)
After that experience i decided using a more proven way and bought a Slopter-kit. Slopter is a kit from Flemotec. Slopter consists mainly of 3mm Depron. My rotorblades are from Balsa, because i had no success with blades from Depron.
Next autogyro is a G3PO, built from a kit by Mickey Nowell. Not so easy to fly, but i'am on my way learning to rule this nice autogyro.
My fourth autogyro is named Whopper. I built Whopper from this FMT-Plan Whopper
by Sebastian Hampf. The article has been published in the german magazine FMT 6/2006. I maidened Whopper on 06-24-2006 and got chased by a little dog.
In september 2006 Whopper got awarded at Inter-Ex event in Nederweert/ Netherlands for good mechanical construction.
Next one is a very simple and good flying conversion from a GWS-Slowstick to an autogyro. Changing from plane to autogyro or vice versa takes just a minute.
